The True Pundit article was 11/02/2016 and the Erik Prince Breitbart radio interview was 11/04/2016. Neither one gives any dates for anything re: NYPD or when the got the warrant or when they got the laptop. NYPD couldn’t have had Weiner’s laptop as Prince says they did.
Weiner turned in his laptop and iphone and ipad on 09/23/2016 to Granite Intelligence LLC, a security firm.
Granite turned it in to the Feds under warrant on 09/26/2016
If NYPD had the laptop under warrant, why would they give it back to Weiner?

Yes, it would. If that happened, it’s troubling it’s not mentioned in the OIG report of 06/2018.

about the possibility that NYPD bootstrapped the SDNY warrant to get an image. (FBI\DOJ did not give up that actual laptop as noted in the OIG report. Where it’s at now? who knows)

I never was able to prove NYPD had a warrant and I also was never able to absolutely prove they didn’t have a warrant. I was only able to show it was unlikely.
The SDNY warrant and affidavit issued 10/30/2016 - a Sunday @ 12:32 p.m. - (used to get the devices from the FBI) are redacted enough where NYPD may have been mentioned in it.
Sending an FOIA to the FBI\SDNY (I don’t think it’s called SDNY anymore) sounds like a good idea.

Let me explain:
NYPD is general New York Police Dept.
SDNY is Southern District of New York. This is a geographical location whose jurisdiction is 8 southern counties of New York State. NYS has 62 counties. Manhattan has 39 PD precincts.
If you send a FIOA to NYPD it may end up in Albany or Hamilton county where they would not have any info on weiner because they are not located in the SDNY. Task is to find the correct SDNY precinct to request the FOIA by mail. Eric Prince gives a clue. I've pm'ed you the details.
Next, the return email address is "open records". The documents you were requesting may not be open. yet.
I live Upstate NY and have dealt with police here and in NYC.
Police paperwork. One time I was served a letter by police from a neighbor. When I requested the incident report about it, I could not receive it because it didn't exist. Police was paid by neighbor to serve so maybe that's why it doesn't show up at all. In that officer's date sheet it just said something generic but no mention of serving letter or my location.
In NYC, I also wanted an incident report. They said they don't do that or it doesn't apply in my case. It's a civic matter, nobody died or was hospitalized.
End conclusion is, just because the PD doesn't have something written down, doesn't mean it didn't happen or they don't have it. They were just the delivery/pick up men.
Perhaps one of the greatest.miscarriages of justice in our history, IMO. The last official possession of the laptop that I remember was with Andrew McCabe... then lost in the Bermuda Triangle. That laptop carried HRC'S 33,000 lost emails plus probably criminal pornography that would have convicted a few well known people.
Probably carried the key to Uranium 1, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, the whereabouts of lost Haitian orphan children, Ukraine... on and on. The FBI (the supremo law enforcement agency on the globe) acquired critical evidence of high crimes and abuse of power, international human (children) sex trafficking, etc. -- and no one knows what happened to the evidence.
Now there's a real confidence builder, Director Wray! May all the corrupt people and those who protect them all meet soonest in H3ll!

Incidentally, the NYPD would have to have had something from the laptop in order to convict Weiner.
