BREAKING: Epicenter of coronavirus outbreak reports 2,147 new cases and 81 new deaths.

If it was in my area and schools were not closed, I would be pulling my kids out of schools. From quick search of policies in the US, it appears the individual states make the decision, and some wait until there is 30% infection. I dont trust bureaucrats to use common sense, even in situations like these.
This does not apply in my familys situation, but it might be a good idea to brush up on your states homeschool laws and get have on hand paperwork needed so you can pull your kids out and dont risk truant officers showing up at your door. Just a thought.
Or no travel history to China; Im guessing health depts are still using that as the bottom line screening tool, although some countries have expanded that list to include much of Asia.
2:32 pm: Princess Cruises confirms six additional coronavirus cases
Princess Cruises confirmed six new cases of coronavirus, the company confirmed Sunday after testing by Japans health ministry, bringing the total infected passengers on the Diamond Princess to 69. The ship is quarantined off the coast of Japan.
Our guests and crew onboard Diamond Princess are the focus of our entire global organization right now and all of our hearts are with each of them, said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president, who said that Japanese health authorities are supporting the ocean liner and providing medical assistance.
In partnership with the Japan Ministry of Health the ship has received additional medications which are being sorted and distributed based on medical and urgent priority, Swartz said.

Coronavirus: Fourth patient in UK diagnosed
A fourth person has tested positive for coronavirus in the UK, England’s chief medical officer has said.
The new case is a known contact of a previous British patient, and caught the virus in France.
It comes after around 200 British and foreign nationals evacuated from Wuhan on the UK’s final rescue flight arrived at RAF Brize Norton on Sunday.

Also at the link in my previous post, there is another case in Spain tied to France. Many of these new cases are secondary meaning they never travelled to China. Our healthcare system needs to update their screening policies.
Thanks.
4 Chinese tourists under monitoring in Romblon [a tourist island favored by the Chinese] for novel coronavirus
MANILA, Philippines Four Chinese tourists from Shiyan in China’s Hubei province, who arrived in Romblon on Friday morning, are being monitored by the Department of Health and local health officials in response to the outbreak of 2019 Novel (new) Coronavirus Acute Respiratory Disease or 2019-nCoV ARD.
Doctor Ederlina Aguirre of the local Provincial Health Office, through the Philippine Information Agency in Romblon, said that the tourists are apparently healthy and are not displaying any signs of illness. [YET]
The group arrived in the Philippines through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Monday before reportedly taking a bus to Lucena in Quezon and then taking a RoRo (roll on/roll off) bound for Tablas Island in Romblon.
[How many were infected on the bus, possibly?]
And would you touch any food or container it comes in? Even the water has to arrive by bottle.

Why the hell would they be letting Chinese into their country at this point?
Truant officers.
In the 150,000 person city next to my town has one truant officer.
Our town doesnt have any.
This would be a low priority in our area. Your advice is good, but it brought a smile to my face. They used to be a thing when I was a kid. But that was a long time ago. Lol
Not only would the hood rats not observe the quarantine, the snow flake entitled idiots in my upper class town would feel their rights are being infringed. And half of them are related to the doctors in out area. The rules dont apply to them.
And they would bring it back to my area. I am pretty sure there are a few of us who would keep them from coming back.
Your body can overwhelm one cell because once it destroys a cell in your body, the immune system will overwhelm it. And the bodys environment is not hospitable.
The number of virus needed to make you sick sounds huge. But its really contained in a drop of fluid.
I guess it depends where you live, some areas around here were pretty pushy when parents were keeping kids out when swine flu was coming through.
But Im talking early in the outbreak. Once its spreading in an area, schools will be closed anyway. Of course not until everyones exposed and taking it home to their families. Kids dont seem to get as severe cases so far, but theyre still spreading it
Youre probably right that truant officers may not be a thing like when I was a kid too, lol.
They might have gone to RP during CNY, now afraid to go back.
Outside of China, the cases are growing exponentially. Japans first case was Jan 28. Singapore is another hot spot, and its first case was Jan 23. The first case in Thailand was Jan 15. As the numbers increase, I believe we will start seeing deaths. Wuhan, Chinas first official death was with 59 cases in early January (I know, we can multiply that by 100, because China always plays down numbers, but Im using it as a point of comparison)
In pandemic terms, this is infancy
Do you think the fog might contain antiviral sulfur compounds?
(As many shots as I've seen of trucks fogging cheek to jowl down streets, they don't show up in searches. I wonder why?)
Yep...something fishy on that NJ ship...and, it wasn’t the meals they were serving.
Abundance of caution????
As in....escorting the potential cases of CV off of the ship....while wearing NO protective gear??
