Two more passengers, including another American, have fallen ill on the Diamond Princess cruise ship thatquarantined off the coast of Japan, bringing the ship's total to 63 passengers who have been diagnosed with coronavirus.

They are all living. The last read is that none of the cases are severe.
If they have been in isolation more than 14 days, how are there new cases? There is speculation that the virus may be active in some people who never show symptoms and act as carriers.

It occurs to me that if you're in a cabin without a balcony, all of your air is circulated through the ships central HVAC system. So, if someone is sick and coughs, there may be a slight probability that the particles they shed may make it to another room through the ventilating system.
It also occurs to me that everyone is being fed through trays delivered to the cabin door. No matter how hard cruise ships try to sterilize the kitchens, every month or so there's a mass outbreak of norovirus. Couldn't food be a transmission vector for this virus, too?
Could be a spouse to one already infected. I know there was an American who had it early, but his wife didn’t at the time. I’m wondering if she got it.
There is a long incubation period. The only way to make sure no one else is infected is to keep everyone on board for 14 days after the last known infectious person was removed.
Apparently, they are restricted to their rooms with water and food brought to them. I bet those with an inside cabin are having a great time.

I can’t even IMAGINE! We got off the Sky Princess ship today where we had a balcony cabin. The thought of being stuck in there for even one full day triggers my claustrophobia hyperventilation. But an inside cabin ... NFW.
(No weird illnesses on our cruise. Passengers and staff appeared to be respectful of each other when it came to health safety.)
Last place I’d want to be is jammed in and cooped up with 5,000 obnoxious tourist surrounded by sharks and deep water with no where to go.

Maybe some cabins are vacant when someone goes to the hospital due to testing so.
Some of those cabins will be balconies. Do you want to upgrade from an inside cabin to a outside cabin with balcony ? Knowing the previous occupant is so infected.
