Roberta McCain, the mother of the late Sen. John McCain, celebrated her 108th birthday on Friday.
Her granddaughter, Meghan McCain, tweeted out the news.
"Happy 108th Birthday to my nana Roberta. You are our matriarch," the conservative co-host of ABC's The View said. "Completely ageless, classic, lovely, strong, smart, sarcastic, irreverent and all things I love in this world. We are so grateful for you."
McCain, 35, also shared the secret to her grandmother's long life on The View after host Sunny Hostin asked: "Have you ever asked her what her secret is to longevity?"
"She said, 'A sense of humor,'" Meghan McCain replied, adding that her grandmother "just loves life" and is a passionate watcher of the show.
Roberta McCain was born in Oklahoma in 1912, and she married Navy Adm. John McCain Jr. in 1933. She has over two dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roberta McCain is also a world traveler, and age has done little to slow her down. She made the trip to Europe in her 90s.
In August 2018, she attended the funeral of her son John McCain after he died at the age of 81 from a brain tumor.
anyone can be kept alive if you have enough money and enough servants.....
She was alive when the Titanic sank. Two months old, but she was here.
Well, congratulations on the longevity Mrs. McCain, but from my recollection your son clearly inherited his personality from you.
This does not portend well for the humorless left.
Spenser resigned from the Navy because he was part of the Swamp in the Pentagon and crossed Pres. Trump on the Galliger pardon. Today, he endorsed Bloomburg for president.
“She said, ‘A sense of humor,’”
Excellent! As long as democrats keep giving us schadenjoy we should be in good shape!
Mrs. McCain was born a month and a few days after my grandmother, whom I miss very badly.
I hope for her continued health, so that her family may enjoy her presence for as long as possible.
And, yes, you would HAVE to have a really good sense of humor to live a long life on this nasty dust ball.
She should probably start shifting her portfolio into lower risk investments.
The closer you are to your objective, the more conservative you become?
I wish no ill will, and a happy birthday as well, but gosh it sux to outlive your kids and nearly everyone else you ever knew.
