McConnell sums up impeachment on Senate floor for House Dems: ‘He won and they lost’

**SNIP**

“The drive to impeach President Trump did not begin with the allegations before us,” he said. “Here was reporting in April of 2016: ‘Donald Trump isn’t even the Republican nominee yet… [but] impeachment is already on the lips of pundits, newspaper editorials, constitutional scholars, and even a few members of Congress.”

“Here was the Washington Post headline minutes after President Trump’s inauguration: ‘The campaign to impeach President Trump has begun.'”

“The articles of impeachment before us were not even the first ones House Democrats introduced,” McConnell added. “This was go-around number seven. Those previously-alleged ‘High Crimes and Misdemeanors’ included things like being impolite to the press and to professional athletes.”

“Their position was obvious when they openly rooted for the Mueller investigation to tear our country apart and were disappointed when the facts proved otherwise. It was obvious when they sought to impeach this President over and over.”

Sums it up very nicely, thanks.

To vote to convict, one has to have a deep disrespect for the Senate.

Mitt’s worried because he was his dad’s “Hunter”. “F” him. I’m sure the Statue of Limitations is up but it wouldn’t hurt to make him hire a lawyer to say so.

I think this whole impeachment mess is based on the stupidity of the Rat base. It all boils down to one thing. The President was accused of the same thing that Biden admitted to on camera threatening to hold back a billion dollars if a Ukrainian prosecutor wasn’t fired. But as we know Trump had a valid reason for what appeared to be a quid pro quo. That video of Biden bragging about getting the prosecutor fired should have been plastered all over the media. Especially at the Senate trial. The Rats, commies, and never Trumpers will knowingly, unwittingly and stupidly ignore the truth and that is their basic fault. They either lie or are lied to by their propagandist masters.

Mitch McConnell courageously took to the floor of the Senate as the Republican leader to defend the president of his own party against bogus articles of impeachment and acquitted the Senate.

” But as we know Trump had a valid reason for what appeared to be a quid pro quo.”

My interpretation is that “Trump had a valid reason for what [demonkraps alleged] to be a quid pro quo.” There was never any proof to support that there was any “quid” for the “pro”.

There was proof to support the assertion that starting in 2014 the Bidens were in a Ukranian quid pro quo ... buying and selling influence/access. The demonkraps were never called to the carpet and pressured to answer why that could not be a valid basis for Trump’s call. Chris Wallace, call your office.

“I have developed a new respect for Mitch.”

Mitch is Mitch, but Mitch seems to come through when the big wager is on the table. Not backing down and slapping down obozo’s SC nominee was courageous. Just a week ago the reports were that enough GOP senators were going to vote for witnesses; that evaporated. Mitch as leader got his team on board.
That was the set up for the end of the hoax impeachment.
