Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona broke from her Democratic colleagues by giving a standing ovation for opportunity zones during President Trumps State of the Union address Tuesday. While the majority of Democrats sat as Trump commended Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., for his work on opportunity zones, Sinema stood and applauded her colleague.
Opportunity zones were created in tandem with the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. They provide tax advantages for certain investments in lower income areas.
Jobs and investments are pouring into nine thousand previously neglected neighborhoods, thanks to opportunity zones. A plan spearheaded by Senator Tim Scott as part of our great Republican tax cuts, Trump said as Sinema stood to clap.
Sinema was surrounded by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and Kamala Harris of California. Both women ran failed 2020 presidential campaigns and refused to stand for the success of opportunity zones.

Democrats lack of applause for successful legislation and programs implemented by the Trump administration was not limited to opportunity zones. They also refused to clap for record unemployment for black Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, women, military veterans, disabled people and young people.
Democrats refuse to clap for record low unemployment, record low poverty levels.
Absolutely pathetic. #SOTU pic.twitter.com/J7R96OQMb5

The real question is, what successful program will the Democrats clap for? The answer is, of course, none.

Actually, it looked genuine to me. He’s probably trying to claw back a molecule of decency.
“But its totally calculated for her. Politicians usually are, but still.”
Yea, if I had to score her regarding support for Trump and/or Republican positions, I’d give her something like 15%, along with Manchin. Doug Jones doesn’t count as he’s only faking it for re-election. The rest, 5% or less.
But then for Republicans, even Murkowski and Romney get 65% scores from me. Murkowski let us down on Kavenaugh, Romney on witnesses (something he really he hadn’t done), but otherwise have still done far, far, better than any Democrat (almost always with us on tough judicial votes). Of course Romney being a dick is also true, but I’m just looking at votes. Then Collins, maybe 75%, and I give her a pass on witnesses, due to her vicious re-election fight. The rest are 90 to 100, even though many still hate Trump and many also support open borders.
So we have a 40% gap between the best that the Dems have and the worst that our side has, which is something that conservatives should REALLY consider, if they’re thinking about sitting out the Nevember election because their Republican Senate candidate/officeholder is a RINO or otherwise not quite ‘pure’ enough for them. Sitting it out only punishes your kids, it sure doesn’t punish them, nor does it change the GOP.
Sinema's an avowed and self proclaimed lesbian so ....
Let’s hope for the best but remain aware of the potential she possesses either way.
She needs to switch parties. She would make a splendid RINO.
I live in AZ and she claims to be bi. I do not think she is Tim’s type.
I thought it was great but my husband said Kyrsten Sinema is pretty liberal, she’s courting favor with the public. She plans to run for President someday.
She is a looker.
Sinema is very liberal but her hands are tied by Arizona voters. The dirty little secret is that she voted against Trump’s tax cuts when she was in the house despite the fact that most in Arizona supported the bill. She is up for reelection this year and is trying to create the false impression that she supports them. If this woman was in the Senate in California she would be to the left of Bernie Sanders
Sam, Im going to steal your Coup Klutz Klan line, it perfectly describes those stupid broads.
No. Bisexual.
Sinema is an outed lesbian.
I dont think she is up for re-election. The other woman in mccains Seat is. Shes in flakes seat.
She may be one of the extra acquittal votes today...I’m still predicting it to be between 55 and 60...
She’s the only Rat female senator I would do.
I noticed that. Sinema looks vibrant, Kamala looks drab.
The Arizona democrat party tried to censure Sinema for not voting in lockstep with the Dems but they didn’t get in on the calendar soon enough. They’re coming for her.
Absolutely! Gabbi Giffords husband, astronaut Kelly, says he is running for that seat. With the influx of illegals and the advent of ballot harvesting in AZ, it will be a real battle to keep even one seat for the Republicans. PS-ballot harvesting is still illegal in AZ!
And do not forget that Sinema was an avowed Communist not too long ago. Her words!
yup- just like Pelosi ripping up the speech. It will end up being the gift that keeps on giving...
She knows that she lost her election and is only a senator because they found just enough votes in the trunk of a car after the election. She has to support the president if she has any hope of a future in Washington.
