When I was in my 20’s and 30’s I changed tires. Worked on my own car, too. I could still do it now, if I had no other choice, but I realize that lifting the tire will likely cause me back pain that could last for weeks. Part of success at any stage in life is knowing your own strengths and weaknesses. Sadly, this woman learned that lesson the hard way.

LOL was meant to convey that I have no animosity towards your point of view. I have never thought of changing a tire on the side of the road as “getting my macho on”, it’s just something that needs to be done from time to time. Some people do it themselves and some people pay AAA a pittance for someone else to risk their life for them.
One night a tornado came through here. The local news media chased it down so they could put cameras on the destruction for their nightly tv drama. Along the way, they found a pickup upside down on the side of the road. When the storm turned into nothing, they decided to go set up by this pickup. By the time they got back to it, the truck was uprighted, and either driven or hauled away. There was no sign of it anywhere. Some people are proactively independent and some people need someone else to take care of things for them.
I don’t judge or scold people for the option they choose.
