Hah!!! That is pretty damn funny...!

Quick story:

Some years ago, my first two Beagles were in the living room, laying on the floor, next to the chair I was sitting in. Was Spring, almost summer. Inside door to the deck was open, and the sliding full-screen door was closed.

Neighbor had a groundhog burrow under their deck.

This fat little critter would pop out, run along the other side of the fence, and torture the crap out of my beagles. Also ripped my tomatoes to shreds whenever he could.

THAT day however, the little b&stard decided to up the ante. He came into the yard, UP onto the top step of the deck and stood up on his hindend, looking in the door.

Boy Beagle’s head comes up ... “RRRRRR??????”

Girl Beagle’s head pops up... “GRRRR!!!!!”

Instant, fur-covered black and tan Rage Machines...

And before I could stop them, they went THROUGH the damn screen door, launched off the deck - and I mean AIRBORNE - and the chase was on.

Ground hog goes tear-assing across the yard, makes the most astounding 90-degree high speed I’ve ever seen, ducked under the wire fence and gone... back under the deck.

The dogs, however, could NOT cut the sharp turn, and just WRECKED themselves in a tumbling, howling heap. Funniest damn thing I ever saw...

They came slinking back in through the ripped screen door, like “Yeah... I know... just got humiliated by a rodent...”

Wish I’d filmed it. Blink of an eye...

My dog was a German Shepherd. The groundhogs never won and usually ended up on the front porch, half eaten.

Occasionally the groundhog would get away by climbing a tree. I’ve shot many groundhogs out of trees as they are hood climbers when chased.

I was in elementary school when I shot my first groundhog, it was with a bow and arrow. Problems was, the arrow killed the groundhog and stuck into the side of the tree about 15 feet off the ground.

That’s when I got my first gun!!!
