Dear Miss Diana,

I love your monthly posts on fabric arts!

I miss my ex-wife. I got married too young, and was not the perfect husband. But she did it all: knit, crochet, sew.

My mother was an expert at sewing and knitting. She could make anything. She grew up in dire poverty, and had to learn this stuff for survival.

I've been making these for family and friends. I had never done stranded knitting before, so the first couple of hats were challenging.

The pattern is from Deplorable Knitter. She used to sell on R------, and I believe it was her designs that caused the R owners to freak and start calling names (all in the pursuit of tolerance, of course).

Not at the skill level shown in the photos(WOW).
I started by making rock climbing gear.

I enjoy making quilts from felted (SHRUNK) wool sweaters and coats. Using an old Union Special 39500 serger;ebay $200.

Have also made them from no longer used military uniforms, using an old Singer walking foot, they are hard to sew.

Also, enjoy hand needle felting sometimes called embellishing. And the usual array of requests from/for our grandchildren.

Recently discovered that I could extend the life of a favorite pair of wool socks with a bit of roving, some yarn and felting needles.

Those are awesome! I am in a group on Facebook named, ‘Make Crochet Great Again’ and they use the red MAGA ball cap as a logo with that slogan on it.

I’m sure we’ll all end up in Facebook Jail before the November election! ;)

Thanks. They’re both works in progress. I always seem to have multiple projects going on at the same time. I belong to several FB crochet groups but not Make Crochet Great Again. I’ll have to look for them and join.

January turned into “Baby Blanket” month for me. I was working on a pink blanket for a cousin's new little girl – my mom saw it and wanted it for the granddaughter of a friend of hers. The granddaughter actually had twins, so I had to come up with a blanket for a little boy as well. Since I still needed a blanket for my cousin, I pulled one out of 'inventory' that I'd forgotten about – I actually like this one better for my cousin – she's not a frills/ruffles person. Pictures aren't great – it was dark & I had to put them on a green chair – usually I do outside photos with more natural light. I love doing baby blankets, but I'm ready to move on to something else for a while!

Twin Baby Boy:

Corner to Corner Blanket with a border cobbled together from a couple of other patterns. I love doing C2C, but the border can be problematic. This turned out to be a nice solution – not too feminine, but still sweet for a little baby.
