You’d think these people would learn after disasters like Oceans 8 and the all female ghostbusters.... SMH

The #metoo stuff is driving them to all virtue signal by spending shareholders money on "girl power" projects that guaranteed will lose money or, for established franchises, underperform.

People don't have a problem with strong female characters that overcome obstacles and grow as all good characters should do (Luke Skywalker was a bored farmboy who dreamed of glory and trained to be a total badass but came to realize his greatest strength came from refusing to fight; Ripley in Alien survived and fled but came back and learned to face her own fears and fight so she could save a child. Modern Star Wars Rey has no training or experience but is instantly the best pilot, best fighter, strongest Jedi ever without ever needing to struggle or overcome... oh wait, that makes her a terrible character). People don't have a problem with female character who kick ass (Ripley from Alien, Sarah Connor, Black Widow, etc). People do have a problem with forcing flat 2D flawless "Mary Sue" characters in that succeed for no reason with no training just because they are female. It's boring and insulting.

I bet they cast Kate McKinnon, as she could pull off the unhinged, goofy, eccenetric type of character. But I think it will still tank in the box office.

You’d think the studios would realize making movies that no one is asking for isn’t the best business decision.
