... Carlos Pitones ... told CNN that the sections that gave way had recently been set in a new concrete foundation in Calexico, California. The concrete had not yet cured, according to Pitones, and the wall panels were unable to withstand the windy conditions.
The National Weather Service reports that winds in the area gusted as high as 37 miles per hour Wednesday. Video from CNN affiliate KYMA shows the metal panels leaning against trees adjacent to a Mexicali, Mexico, street as the wind whips up dirt from the construction site on the other side of the border.
The CBP says local Mexicali officials diverted traffic from the area of the accident, and the agency is working with the Mexican government on the next steps to right the wall.

Bad Engineer
You gotta read between the lines.
“The area is part of an ongoing construction project to improve existing sections of the wall.”
Stuff happens!
Of course CNN will probably proclaim Trumps wall a failure
The answer is BS. If it was set deep enough, around 10 ft, the concrete should have held in in 100 mph winds
Yes I’ve done construction to know this. I’ve seen a 6 ft X 8 ft sign swing 12 inches back and forth with two steel legs set in 4 yards of concrete without damage in 100 mph winds.
From the article “The concrete had not yet cured,”
they now admit we are building the wall?.... progress!
Not in wet concrete.
” The concrete had not yet cured, “

BUT! The concrete had not yet set, so it had had no strength - BUYT! - The construction company should have known this, known the weather, and properly braced it up against such a wind. 37 mph is NOT “catastrophic” or storm levels, and should have been predicted.
“The answer is BS. If it was set deep enough, around 10 ft, the concrete should have held in in 100 mph winds”
The answer is. ... YOU DIDN’T READ THE ARTICLE!
Watch the video. Doesn’t appear to be any concrete in the trench yet. Agent Pitones probably should stick to what he does well and leave dumb comments about construction techniques to FReepers.
Oh yeah - it’ll lead the NBC “news” tomorrow.
Then fix it.
Did you bother to read the article? The concrete wasnt cured
Wish they would build it out of sheet piling. Cheap, easy and fast to install and indestructible. Not the best looking thing. Put a nice looking fence in front of it on our side and move on.
Not only that . the article even stated Mexico will “right” (fix) the wall? Wow.
Too much hassle. I’ve stated for 15 years here: this cap will stop if you place landmines at the border. All you need is a clean up crew. No guards needed
