Their job, as THEY see it is to support the WHO in avoiding “panic” and declarations of “epidemic” and “pandemic” which trigger treaty clauses that end international travel and commerce.

For most viral infections, treatments can only help with symptoms while you wait for your immune system to fight off the virus. Antibiotics do not work for viral infections.
Cures for most viruses are imaginary. It’s always been ride it out or die.
The best hope is for a Vaccine that can help prevent you from getting the viral flu.

In the course of my life I have had the flu 2 times, when much younger.
The last thing you do is run off to a hospital for treatment of the flu unless you think you are going to die.
IMHO for every flu patient going to a hospital 10 are at home riding it out.
The problem is that estimating the number of infected people is just an estimate.

DM revised the article. Yes, there are no kits but the hospitals can do the test easily in 4-6 hours but the FDA is not giving them permission to do so. So all the specimens have to be sent to the CDC

Do we really have data to document that we are safe after 14 days of confinement?
I read somewhere (I’ve got like 30 tabs open to pubmed right now so ask me later LOL) that SARS patients could shed virus for several weeks AFTER they ‘recovered’.
