Something to remember in the future is that when there is a large ‘attraction’ to a particular news feed or type of feed that it can overwhelm the servers.
For instance, a few days ago FR had a server problem. Since FR has two servers (or gateways), one server had to handle the load. It was morning and EVERYONE was trying to load onto FR. When it didn’t work, they repeatedly backed out and tried again. This just made the bottleneck worse.
Also, as an example, when a new thread comes up with a video link and it’s very popular, then everybody is trying to link up to that video at the same time. Overwhelms the system, as they say.
By simply waiting a few minutes, the logjam goes away and no one has further problems.
That is likely what happened in this case.
