Earlier this month, the Netflix documentary produced by Barack and Michelle Obama, "American Factory," was predictably nominated for an Oscar for best documentary. In response to that news, I expressed my belief that the documentary was nominated simply because of the Obama connection, and I stand by it. I said at the time that "it's a bit hard to believe that this documentary would have earned this nomination had they not been linked to the project."
And I also made the following observation and prediction:
Barack Obama has already won two Grammy awards for Best Spoken Word Album, and Michelle Obama was recently nominated in the same category for her memoir, Becoming— and I'll bet a thousand dollars she'll win.
Well, I wish someone had taken me up on that bet because I'd be a thousand dollars richer tonight. I don't watch the Grammys or follow any coverage of them, but it was reported Sunday afternoon that she had won.
I'm sure it will go right next to her husband's Grammys and Nobel Peace Prize on the mantel of their fireplace.

My wife watched the show last night. I predicted every win for Billie Eilish after the first one. It was obvious her agent/label paid the most money.
Mine too, I could overhear some of it. I long for the days when talented musicians wee celebrated at the Grammy's.

Do you think they would really put Michelle Obama up against Trump? I think they would hold her in reserve for 2024 so as not to go up against an incumbent. I don’t think they could risk her running and losing to Trump.
I almost think Hillary is going to try to worm her way back into it. You know the left would salivate at having her beat Trump in a rematch.
The true believers who think she was robbed would swoon if she was nominated and ran against Trump again.
If the Rat establishment wants to be rid of the Clinton’s once and for all. If they are acknowledging that 2020 is a forgone conclusion it might be a good strategy to let her run again and be crushed.

Other winners have been celebrities. Earlier, when spoken word recordings were much rarer the winners were more varied, but now there are so many audiobooks out there that nobody listens to them all and makes an honest comparison of them all.
The real award for audiobooks is the Audies. They actually do try to find the best fiction and non-fiction audiobooks in several different categories. I suppose you could find some bias in their selections, but they aren't always just awarding liberal politicians.
