And in regards to the Ro it’s a metric that allows comparison. Yes, it’s an academic figure that is derived “after the fact”, but in terms of tracking any kind of velocity, we won’t know until this breaks out (not onsey-twosey) in a first world country.

I absolutely agree there is no need to panic here. But I did buy a big bottle of Vitamin C. I need that stuff anyway.

Well yea...there isn't any reason to be insouciant. Something IS going on, and stocking up on vitamins, 93% alcohol etc is eminently reasonable. At the same time, I don't think SHTF type of prepping is in order as some people are suggesting.

Your point about about the medical care delivery system possibly locking up is perhaps THE biggest unsung risk in all this. There are scores of interdependencies nowadays. This brings to mind the disruption after the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption. America wasn't too dependent on Europe so it was as impactful here vs other areas. But it's a good proxy to be studied -I'm interested in Mom MD's views.
