“Do you think the Chicoms would rashly destroy their economy over the flu or a sniffle or two?”
Over anything they would. In fact their job is to hold back the Chinese economy and they’ve been doing it for 70 years, sometimes to horrific result.
It’s a serious issue. New viruses like this come up and there is now the technology to know if a virus is a new strain. The type of DNA sequencing and viral genomic databases haven’t been around that long. Now it’s easy to identify new strains. In the last this would be marked up to a few pneumonias where the infectious agent was not identified.
It’s good to monitor potential epidemics as is being done.
Keep in mind the flu in a mid level county like San Diego here killed more than this new virus over the same time. Elderly and sick are the victims in both cases of flue and this Wuhan virus, WARS as its being called.
China has a closed society, very controlled at near Orwellian levels. Info from there is subject to rumor and exaggeration. There is no free press and no freedom of movement.
The government are not honest and are very Machiavellian. Corruption runs rampant.
I personally think they are using this new virus as an excuse to put their contingency plans in to a dry run exercise to see how well they can work. If there is ever widespread discontent and protests of the 1989 type, they would want to shut down travel. This is a dry run using the new virus as an opportunity to see how well they can inhibit travel and movement.
It’s done exactly at the time of the biggest travel time of the year. It is a great test.
Really, nothing the ChiCom government says can be trusted or taken at face value (although it could be honest but one can’t know).
So you think the ChiComs are crashing their economy deliberately then?
To ‘test’ some sort of public policy maneuver?
?
And our State Department is playing along with this by evac’ing all our peeps there?
I dont read anything from anyone here that seems dramatic. You really need to get a grip.
