It used to drive me crazy watching the team I followed play against Fran Tarkenton...that guy was as elusive as the day is long.
I remember watching a play with defenders chasing Tarkenton where he must have ran twitching and juking 30 yards in the opposite direction, then turned and ran and juked nearly the same distance back with defenders grabbing at him and grasping at him the entire time missing him by inches or getting a sleeve or an arm, before he wound up and threw the ball about fifty yards for a touchdown.
LOL, I likely threw my beer on the floor...THAT guy deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
I’m a Bears fan, still, and I hated Tarkentan.
He had Bud Grant, a great coach. We had the likes of Abe Gibron, and Neil Armstrong. Neil was famous for “always” running when we were like 2nd and 9 yards on the 50 yard line.
Gibron, was worse and noted for, run left, run right, incomplete pass, punt.
