A structure not even big enough to be called a bridge on a road that supporters attending President Donald Trumps Jan. 28 rally in Wildwood might use was closed by state Department of Transportation officials because it could collapse.
**SNIP**
State officials, however, said they had to close a less-than-a-mile portion of Route 47 due to numerous sinkholes that have compromised the roadway, including a three-foot sinkhole that developed this week, said Stephen Schapiro, a DOT spokesman. The DOT sent out press advisories on Jan. 17.
Route 47 is a mostly two-lane state highway - also known as Delsea Drive - which spans 70 miles from Camden County to Cape May County. While the final portion of the road is one of two main ways onto the barrier island, the area that is closed is further west of the Garden State Parkway and Route 9 and not the likely route most drivers will take.
The location of the closed section is between Indian Trail Road and Springers Mill Road in Middle Township.
When asked by NJ Advance Media, state DOT officials said the structure that carries Route 47 over a creek was in danger of collapsing.

Driving to the Trump rally in Wildwood? Good luck finding parking.

Agreed. Most people wouldn’t have taken that route, anyway.
The parking might be a problem, though.
When GW Bush was running for re-election, we went to a rally in the Detroit area.
At the last minute, the venue, in a Democrat area was changed, forcing the Republican party to charter some buses for offsite parking.
We got to the rally site. Apparently the democrats wanted to do us a favor and hosed down the field to knock down the dust.
Even though it hadn’t rained in 2-3 weeks, the field was several inches of muck.
How many vacationers are parked in town during the summer season?
Its the Garden State Parkway
There’s a map at the link showing route 47.
Send in a military team to do repairs.

Fill in the hole with some nuclear waste or dry cleaning waste, or chemical waste, pack in some sand and roll some asphalt over it and call it a day
3’ sink hole is nothing here
The parkway down that way is like a roller coaster because of the road sinking in spots, been that way for decades.
Plenty of parking, actually Wildwood has a population of 5,000 year round residences and swells up to 250,000 in the summer season
Don’t worry about the parking. This is the off season and the place has TONS of parking now
July 4th weekend might be a different story....
How many vacationers are parked in town during the summer season?
Wildwood year round population is around 5,000
It peaks to 250,000 in the summer
Plenty of parking, seriously, if you ever been there, you would know.
Trump supporters are going to Quadrouple the town’s population for the day
Yep, I know the area well. I first went to the Boardwalk there in my Mother’s womb.

It's illegal to that. The state and local goons have that territory.
Years ago, there was a patch of road outside an Air Force Base that was in terrible shape. People were late to work because of it. The base Civil Engineering folks kept contacting the locals, and offering help. It was refused time after time.
This went on for almost 2 years.
Finally, a bunch of military NCOs took the matter into their own hands, and within hours had the road almost patched up.
The local thugs found out about it, and called the local police. The cops started arresting the military folks, so they called their leaders and the base Security Forces.
A Mexican standoff ensued, and the locals were almost hysterical.
They told the Air Force people to start "un-repairing" the road, which they refused to do. Eventually, both sides stood down and left, and the road repair remained unfinished.
True story.
