Huh, I’m by no means a serious SW fan, but wouldn’t such a plot require some big-time retroactive continuity gimmicks? IIRC, in the original SW, Luke barely knows old Ben Kenobi at the beginning of the movie and is unaware of who Leia is. So, what? They’re going to have the three of them going on adventures and then give the kids amnesia in the final episode?

The Mandalorian was great. Felt almost as much like a western as a space opera, and that was just the right tone to hit.
If Kennedy isn’t happy it’s got to be because they haven’t forced enough pointless PC, SJW, Manhating into the stories...
Kennedy is proof that cow$hit as well as cream floats. How that woman still has a job is beyond me... one of, if not the most profitable film franchise in all of history and she has effectively destroyed it and still has a job.
“Kathleen Kennedy” was a #1 Twitter trend most of the day, that is how much she is despised by Star Wars fans.

Luke knows Ben as a “strange hermit that lives out beyond the Dune Sea”. I don’t think Luke “barely” knew him, but it’s clear that he doesn’t know him closely.
As far as Leia is concerned, she’s on another planet at this time. Ben was familiar with the nearby space port (Mos Eisley), so it isn’t unreasonable that he took a couple of excursions to Alderaan as needed.
One final note, I am embarrassed that I know that much about a fictional universe though I loved the movie as a kid and couldn’t stop watching it :-). I wore out a copy of it that was on CED Videodisc :-) .
Did you not see the Mandalorian? Next season (sorry, spoiler), they will be searching for the planet of the Yodas.
