I thought it sucked. For the first, I don’t know, 90 minutes or more, we were all trying to figure out what the freaking thing was about.
The best part was the end with the flame thrower. I laughed so hard I was crying. Other than that, it was waaaaayyyy too long, too disjointed and slow.
My GF is from France. She zoned out, like in five minutes.
If you didn’t grow up during that time, you’ll be clueless, but the movie is entertaining in its own right, so it comes together eventually.
Long scenes, you’re right, with just dialogue and no cuts. Like De Caprio talking to the 8 year old precocious actress.
decaprio ruins it- he doesn’t come across as anything but decaprio trying to be someone else- doesn’t pull it off- it’s not the acting- it’s just his presence- it just screams “I’m decaprio” - Some actors transform into the character they are portraying- but he never did- not in my opinion-
