Quentin Tarantino's ninth feature film is a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor...Sharon Tate.
Thanks. I plan to see it when it comes to HBO/DIRECT TV rent.
Good movie. I think Sharon Tate was treated as an airhead but other than that it was good.
I read a lot of thumbs down reviews but Mick LaSalle form the SF Chronicle liked it and I often agree with him.
The downers, some from QT fans, said the first part of the movie was boring. Are they right or just one dimensional?
Margot Robbie is gorgeous. That’s all I’m going to say about that. But if the movie has Leonard DiCrapio, I’ll wait until I can watch it for free.
One of the best movie soundtracks ever.
And as much as I despise DiCaprio’s politics, he was good in this.
I might be wrong but it seems to me that any movie that is about Hollywood gets an Oscar nod, regardless of its artistic merits. Over the years some real dogs have been nominated and often won.
I am not fond of Tarentino’s work but OUATIH is really, really good.
I think it didn’t do to well at the box office because most of the audience today is unfamiliar with the Manson family and the Tate murders. It was a very “inside” movie for Hollywood and unless once knew of some of the tales of Hollywood of that era some of it didn’t make much sense.
My favorite part of the movie was the flame thrower....
Not a Brad Pitt or Leo DeCaprio fan, but I loved it. If you’re not interested in the era, you probably won’t like it, as it is long. The story made more sense to me on second viewing, and just loved the details throughout: the well-chosen music (not just the biggest hits of the era), the cameos (Steve McQueen and Bruce Lee), Kurt Russell as the narrator, the ending.
Although I detest diCrapio, Tarantino made another terrific film with an great twist. Although slow in some places, it’s worth the time to view.
Awesome movie. Saw it in the theater and again at home. No PC bullsh&t. Great ending. Lots of nostalgia. Fine acting. Gotta find me some of that Wolfs Tooth dog food.

I watched this last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually wish it were longer and slower. It does the time machine thing so well and with such vibe that I just wanted to sort of dwell in it. Not sure if it’s been mentioned but the movie is jampacked with great cars. If you’re a car guy, you will like it. Great performances all around IMO and DiCaprio was fantastic. I thought he did a better job than usual of stepping out of himself and into the character. He was so good that I’m having to up my evaluation of him as an actor. Super satisfying ending. Overall it’s a tale of two buddies and you find yourself really liking both of them. I think I might watch it again just to catch all of the little “easter eggs”. It’s been a great year for movies.
