I cannot go into details because I don't want to harm the innocent parties involved, but here is the basic true story:
My workplace is exceedingly liberal. A few conservatives, but we're outnumbered. I don't hide my views, but I also don't get in fights with others. Honestly.
Seven or eight months ago, maybe longer, I was told my comments offended people and could get me fired. I asked what the specific comments were, and no one could tell me. The response was basically "We all have heard you say things..."
A few days into the new year, I was again read the riot act, told that if I offend anyone else I will lose my job. One of the bosses (there were two) told me not to even talk about the weather or sports. Only work related words should be coming out of my mouth.
I told them I have been very careful about using any language that could be construed as offensive. I asked again for what exactly was my offense. No one could give me a quote.
So, I am doing my best to watch out. I am a good employee and have been that a long time.
What I think I'll do this week is wear RED (not a hat of course LOL) during my work hours. The red will be in solidarity with MAGA. I will do my best to remain quiet.
actually can i add any personal problems as well?
I do not want to hear about everybody’s troubles, I got a few of my own. ( that i don’t share)
You need to start keeping a bound diary, one with a permanent binding where pages can’t be removed. Write down everything anyone says to you that offends you, or threatens you...dates, times, names, etc. If you observe other Conservative co-workers being admonished, keep a record of that too. Keep the diary with you at all times, and keep it up-to-date. You may need it if you are ever disciplined or fired. I was told to do this by a lawyer many years ago. My case was different, and I never got fired, but documentation like this can be used in a court of law if ever needed...even Civil Rights cases. Protect yourself.
Seems to me that if they don’t tell you what you said that they found offensive you can’t avoid re offending them...Telling you you’ll be fired for saying something they then refuse to charecterize is grounds for some kind of lawsuit.
Guess you don’t need the job..
Hey conservative snowflake..ITS A JOB..YOU’RE AN EMPLOYEE.
It’s not college. Say wtf you want if you don’t need the paycheck or stop whining.
the japanese have a perfect phrase for this; Kuuki ga yomenai. you cannot read the air.
not knowing which next word will get you fired is a tough spot to be in. Im usually too busy at work with work to talk politics, but if I did, I have a good idea of of who the snowflakes are.
Ask yourself if maybe deep down you want to get fired. If the answer is yes, wear red. If the answer is no, then stop talking about these four things at the work place: 1) politics, 2) religion, 3) wages, and 4) gender issues (this includes sex, among other things). I also worked in an office overwhelmed with liberals. Half the women were radical lesbians. However, I survived. You can, too.
In the long run, if they want you out they can get most anyone in a year or two.
“The Bible does say we are to obey those in authority, whether they be a boss or a government.”
This is proof the Bible has errors. Cuomo, the Virginia Devil, Obama, Hitler, others. Sure thing. Only on a case by case basis.
Tell your boss that hurts children.
Tell him you are offended when others hurt children.
Instead, you help and protect children.
Provide ZERO details.
Emotional arguments are irrational. Do not explain.
Avoid detail. Do not justify.
Say you feel uncomfortable. Emote, do not explain.
Then shut up. Emote repeatably.
sounds like you need more work to do
I worked as a Sergeant in NY State's Department of Corrections. They had an evaluation program where immediate supervisors had to fill out evaluation forms, sign them, and submit them for approval to their Watch Commander (Lieutenant). It was all a bunch of crap. We were were told we couldn't give officers a score of excellent because it wouldn't give them an incentive to be better. In defiance, I gave all the officers I evaluated an excellent. I was called in by the Watch Commander and asked why I had given them all an excellent rating, and I said it was because they were excellent. When he brought up the word-of-mouth rule that we weren't supposed to do that. I replied, then if we're not supposed to check the "excellent" box, why is it even provided on the form? He had nothing to say in response, and I left his office. He never questioned me again. One time he gave me an evaluation with his own personal comments on it. I refused to sign it, and he ended up having to change his comment because it was his own personal opinion, not based on any actual evidence he could provide to back it up. Can't remember what his comment was, but it was out-of-line, and had no place on an evaluation form. He probably didn't think I'd challenge him on it. When he presented me with a corrected evaluation, after I read it, and approved of it, I signed it.
As a friend and I’m not being sarcastic you should be looking for another job. They will now find a way to get rid of you. Sad but true.
Red’s for Commies. Wear blue, and you’ll know what it’s about.
Hold a news conference, and PUBLICLY SELF IDENTIFY as a Black, Trans-sexual, Lesbian. You’ll be absolutely invulnerable to anything but reality, and we all know that concept has NEVER existed in the liberal universe.
Sir.
From some one who has been there. Do the following.
Read SJWs Always Lie: Taking Down the Thought Police
Make a plan to get out. I mean it. Those conversations were to set a paper trail. Your days in that firm are numbered.
Start documenting EVERYTHING (the book highlights this). You may need it if you choose to litigate.
Your choice. One way or another, you days there are numbered.
I used to work for a Koch company.
I was asked, by HR “Why are you donating to a PAC other than Americans for Prosperity? “
I said I preferred to keep my political opinions at home.
Another place tried like mad to get me to donate to the United Way, up to the point of publicly shaming (posted my name on the BB) me as being “Greedy”. When I posted my charitable donations for the last two years, it made the blue in management mad, but the union guys loved it!
Work is for work, but it is best to figure out what team the management plays for.
Prayers up.
Are you near retirement age?
Wake up. Traps ARE being set for you. They're sending you signals in big red crayola. Your employer is getting ready to fire you. They don't need a reason.
Get your resume updated and start looking for a new position NOW before the floor falls out from under you.
Don't think it's going to happen? Think again. Been there done that.
This was a common veiled threat during the Nazi and Soviet era.
