“They can give fighters made up belts, but they can’t give fighters knockouts across three weight divisions,” McGregor said jubilantly.
McGregor missed a huge left hand as the fight began. But he clinched with Cerrone in the center of the cage and belted him in the face twice with his shoulder, appearing to break Cerrone’s nose.
That turned Cerrone woozy and he admitted he was stunned by it.
“One hundred percent [it surprised me],” Cerrone said. “I’ve never seen anything like that.”
“ After the fight, McGregor was quick to show respect to Cerrone, going in to hug his fallen opponent, as well as his grandmother, who had entered the ring for support.”
Connor is the man.
Very sportsmanlike of McGregor.
Khabib is a monster. The first round of that bout should be killer to watch.
Actually, he was sportsman like, respected his opponent, hugged him afterwards and talked with him. Went over and hugged and talked with his opponent's grandmother.

I haven’t had a chance to see it yet, as I fell asleep during the Valentina fight.
From what I’ve read that Reyes won. Never leave it in the judges hands.
i didn’t see it- did Reyes win decisively against jones in your mind? Or was it close?
Jones has looked a bit off in the last few fights i saw of him- Especially against the viking warrior (can’t think of name right nowe) there- I also think if he hadn’t got a lucky knockout shot on Machida, Machida mighta gone on to victory- Sadly many fights hinge on a lucky placed knockout shot- that lands accidentally- like they go for a body kick, and the opponent ducks into it- or the opponent ducks into an upper cut accidentally- etc

It was fairly close but I thought Reyes did enough. One judge had it 4-1 Jones, which was ridiculous.
Reyes did nothing in the final round though, we’ve seen that cost fighters big time, including Gustaffson who you mentioned, I thought Gus won against Jones 3 rounds to 2 but he looked dead at the end. They did have a rematch BTW (Dec 2018), and Jones TKOed Gus, who retired after losing his next fight.
Jones has almost become Benson Henderson, doing enough to win decisions, not looking very exciting anymore.
Rogan was talking about the scoring after. I really find this 10 point must round by round scoring from boxing doesn’t work for MMA at all. They should score the fight as a whole like they do in ONE FC in Asia. At least do open scoring, where they tell the fighters (and us) the scores after each round so at least they know where they stand.
agreed abotu hte scoring suggestion-
They do say that when you are the contender going against the champ that you need to win decisively- if both fighters do about the same in regards to strikes, power, kicks etc- then it will always go to the defended champ- the contender needs to ‘leave no doubt’ as to their win- Which i can support- if you go for the crown, it should be a very decisive win I think to prove you deserve to be there- Then as champ, you can coast a little bit- as the new contenders need to prove they deserve the title-
I agree, I think the old Pride FC system of scoring the fight as a whole is a better option for MMA.
wish they’d bring back the pride fighting MINUS the head stomping and head kicking and head kneeing when flat on the ground- That I think was a bit too much- too dang dangerous- But man o man were those dudes tough- you didn’t see a lot of wrestling or jujitsu - just all out brawling mostly- some real tough dudes came out of that division- today’s mma is getting too commercialized and ‘safe’ - almost getting to be as silly as WWE- lots of silly banter before fights- trying to hype the match that more and more turns out to be yawners- Way too much jujitsu and wrestling now- Bring back the old time stand and brawl fighters- in my opinion
One point to all the fans out there. This weekend’s card, from early prelims to the feature bout, was one of the best I’ve seen in the last few years. There was not a bad fight all night. Everybody came to rock and it was quite a show. Give Dana White credit - the UFC is working harder than any other league in sports to deliver. And it is.
