For a whiff of who's doing your news, take a gander at this idiocy from a vaunted member of the bluecheck-American community:
This @target manager Tori is not honoring the price of their items per massachusetts law
David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt) January 17, 2020 I just had to call the police because @target Refused to sell me the toothbrush
David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt) January 17, 2020 I did not call 911. I called the business number for the police and told them it was not an emergency and they could take their time and explained the situation.
David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt) January 17, 2020 The police verified @target displayed the price of toothbrush for $0.01 The store manager Tori refused to sell me the toothbrush for displayed price. The police said I need to sue them and that they are making me a verified report take to court @BBBConnection @AskTarget
David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt) January 17, 2020 Corporations like @target are not above the law. The police officer told me theyd testify that they saw the price and that the manager wouldnt sell me the item for the price listed.
David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt) January 17, 2020 I have not been able to afford to go to a dentist in over three years. So yes I wanted a good toothbrush and was thrilled to see such an amazing prize on an @OralB but @target refused to honor it and now I have to take them to court
David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt) January 17, 2020 Apparently, he mistook an inventory tag set up as a placeholder for an advertised price tag of $0.01 and intended to compel Target and its lowly manager to give him the $89.99 toothbrush for pretty much free. When he didn't get what he wanted, he doxxed the manager

Well, he's not showing his teeth...
He can have the empty box display item for .01 cent.
Ive been around a while. Was America this stupid before the Internet?
He sounds like such a great guy, too! (lol)
yes
Perhaps his boyfriend will buy him a toothbrush for his birthday.
@target
Never heard of the place. Do they speak English at @target?
I haven’t the slightest clue what ‘bluecheck’ means.
The lying idiot sent out a tweet from his dentist’s office from last year.
The tag clearly states DISPLAY.
Man, David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt has a long-ass last name! I bet he gets tired of spelling it!
bluecheck-American community
Where is bluecheck-America? Do they speak English in bluecheck-America?
Man, this story raises more questions than it answers.
Blue Checkmark
a term describing someone who is verified on Twitter, giving them a blue checkmark, hence the name.
the term is a pejorative, predominantly used by right-wing people to describe left-wing journalists who tweet things that either are stupid or exactly what they expected from a person with the checkmark. usually both
I once purchased a $149 calculator at Walmart for $25. I knew it was worth more than that but figured it must be on clearance.
It rang up at $149 and I said it was marked $25. The cashier called the manager and she asked another employee to check the price.
She came back and said they were indeed marked $25. The manager told her to let me have it for $25. I then asked the manager if I could have them all. She laughed and said no.
I would not have made a big deal no matter what.
I later figured that I had no idea how it worked and gave it to my Grandson.
If I had been a teenager I would have figured out how everything on it worked. No longer can do it.
Well, I would go here

But I might run into David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt) and won’t be able to pronounce his name.
Besides I don’t think anyone over these speaks actual English.
Sounds like an a—hole
Amazon sold 13,000 worth of camera gear for, at the lowest price, 100 bucks some time back.
They honored the sale price.
David Leavitt(@David_Leavitt) January 17, 2020 I did not call 911.

Well, thank goodness. That’s reserved for real emergencies like running out of dental floss.
Probably. They just lacked the technology to brag about their stupidity so very easily back in the day.
Carpe Donktum, who does those CNN/Trump animated memes on Twitter started a GoFundMe for the cashier
They raised over $13,500 (with a $4k goal) for her in about a day so she can take a nice vacation
