***********************************************************************************************
Thanks Ransom for creating that FRAME for MLK quotes.
Thanks USMC for your appreciation. You are welcome.

As this day closes, I would like to share some more-editing a bit for simplicity and shorter length:

In his speech, prior to the a “man dies” statement-he says, “If a man happens to be 36....(snip)and some great opportunity to stand up for what is right-but he's afraid...(snip)he may go on to live until he's 80, but he's just as dead at 36 as he would be at 80, and the cessation of breathing in his life is merely a belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit.

A bit later in his speech-”Like anybody, I would like to live a long life-longevity has it's place, but I'm not concerned about that now, I just want to do God's will.”

He concludes with talking about the promised land, and he may not get there with you. IIRC, this was his last speech-he was assassinated the next day.

The 60s and 70s were the decades of my young adulthood. MLK was always referred to as the Reverent Dr. MLK. His speeches were peppered with references to God. Yet today, he's Dr. MLK and LSM seems to avoid the aspect of his faith.

I thank God for leaders who preach love and action without violence. During this period, efforts were underway to foment violence/civil war, but those efforts failed. USA became a better country during those years, in many ways and he helped achieve it.

I have restored my tagline-not sure how/when it got deleted.

I am linking to what I think is an inspiring Video featuring leaders from this era-It begins with MLK, but has others mixed in. I almost always listen to it on MLK day, but also when I need a little inspiration.

I get a lift from listening to it—I hope you do too. It's called FREEDOM 101—click the link- I think you'll be glad you did.

MLK was an amazing man, flawed but aren’t we all? He was also a gun owner and a Republican.

I’d like to add your Martin Luther King quotes to the table. ThankQ so much for bringing them up - they are so focusing and at the same time, uplifting. We spend so much time reading of corruption and all around in Social Media and online etc., American courage has been smothered and shamed out of so many. King’s words refine the virtues we struggle to find in our society now the DS has redefined “good” as “bad”. ThankQ for the blessing you’ve provided to us. :D

FReQuests:
I haven’t had the time to update the table in forevah. If a FReeq has time to perform HTML coding to bring our resource up to date, please send me a private message.

I wonder if we have one or more FReeqs willing to take a turn(s) at functioning as thread chaplains. I post around #8 or #9 an MQD update or intro. Often the prayer/focus on God at the bottom of the page is too anemic but I don’t have time to do it justice.

I know the names of some who are tremendous prayer warriors to whom I can turn to for reinforcments when a FReeQ or FReeper blesses me with their prayer request. To both prayer warriors and those requesting prayer, I say a heartfelt THANKQ. I will continue to access the prayer warriors for their gifts, but I’d like one or more thread chaplains on our thread to give the prayer needs of our thread the attention it deserves. I am blessed to pray for FReeqs and FReepers, so I will continue to pray for those requesting prayer - I just want to dedicate more horsepower to this important role. (MOAR PRAYERS for each other and for The Great Awakening). ThankQ
