Walk Away Renee lead singer Steve Caro of the 1960's rock group The Left Bank passed away 1-14-2020
Michael McKean (Lenny) was a member of the Left Bank for a short time.
“The song is one of a number Brown wrote about Renée Fladen-Kamm, the then-girlfriend of The Left Bankes bassist Tom Finn and object of Browns affection.”
Different story here. Tony Sansone wrote the song and never knew or met Renee Fladen-Kamm. He gave/sold the group the song along with Pretty Ballerina.

Songs like this remind me of how fortunate I was to be alive in the ‘60s.
RIP.
The Left Banke (it has an "e"on the ende). Mike Brown, who died in the past few years, met another bandmember's girlfriend -- her name was Renee, and she wa a ballerina -- and wrote "Walk Away Renee", "Pretty Ballerina", and "She May Call You Up Tonight" as a result of the encounter.
Who was the harpsichord soloist in that number? Don Randi?
Thanks setter, glad to have that link -- the story about Mike Brown was used in the liner notes of the CD box set.
I just listened to “Pretty Ballerina”on YT; I’d completely forgotten that one was also theirs. Good music back then.
Just walk away Renee? Oh I loved that song
I think he was 17 when he sang on “Walk Away Renee.” A beautiful song. R.I.P.
I once knew a girl named Renee from Caro, Michigan.
Strange coincidence.
Here's another (unexpected) 16 year old singer.
Yes, it sounded like a second-generation analog tape copy.
That video: He seemed to move his legs too fast for the song. As if his body was too uptempo. Beautiful song.
As if I needed a reminder today! Thanks!

I was a teen in the 70’s. A really great time as well.
I always preferred Pretty Ballerina to Walk Away Renee.
Same here.....kinda haunting melody......brings back wonderful memories.......

Yep
Isn’t that the truth? The explosion in music creativity was phenomenal and won’t ever happen again. “Walk Away Renee” is a good example of the variety we had back then.
The soul in Walk Away Rene became obvious when The Four Tops covered it. RIP.
Oh yeah, but anything the Four Tops did was full of soul...;)
