I hope I am not straying here as I never post general posts. But as a Canadian freeper I am puzzled as to why a road in Harlem is named after a racist like Malcolm X. According to even liberal Wikipedia Malcolm wanted to see the end of the white race. What is the appeal?

Somebody in the district was running for some office or the other and needed the votes and MLK Blvd was already taken.
There’s a “portion” of the population who will name anything after Malcom Xcrement and MLK, both... nah, I won’t say it.

Okay obviously I need to read a history on M X. But where to find an unbiased account.

Prior to his assassination, he’d gone to Mecca on Hajj, and upon his return home, he started having second thoughts. He broke from the Nation of Islam, because he realized that the NOI leader Elijah Mohammed was a hypocrite, and that the NOI wasn’t living up to its own standards. Because of that he was assassinated by the NOI. Not sure if that was enough to get things named after him, but it probably justified it in the minds of the politicians who put them in place.
Malcolm X was anti-white until he met white Muslims on his pilgrimage to Mecca; he never knew they existed before that, and they treated him well. He believed blacks had to solve their own problems instead of waiting for white liberals to do so - and he has been completely vindicated in that belief.
In the end he was killed by black Muslims because he had issues with some of their dealings with blacks.

Allegedly he left the NOI because he found out that the “Honorable” Elijah Muhammad was having sexual relations with a many of the ladies that were associated with the NOI and he had as many as 8 children out of wedlock..
Malcolm X Blvd anywhere is not a place you want to be after dark. Same with MLJ blvd, etc.
Malcolm X is not a noteworthy individual other than he got killed by the Nation of islam and Louis Farrakhan was a triggerman.
