Jimmy G was on the last year of his contract. You cannot have two QBs on your team getting that money. They traded him, saved some money and got some draft picks. No one in NE begrudges Jimmy doing well. He was a great backup and its nice to see him winning.
He waited a Long time to get his chance.

Well he probably learned a Lot under Brady and I’d like to see him go all the way and win the Superbowl.
And not because he’s got an Italian last name.

I think Belichick traded Jimmy because of a fundamental fairness issue. It would be wrong to keep him off the field, stuck behind Brady forever. So Belichick traded him to a weak team in a division we would see only every 4th year in the other conference. And look how that turned out for SF. :)
