So let me take this one step further....when you see all kinds of hinky stuff from players that effect the spread and the over/under.....it may be because someone was doling out money..but in a less conspicuous manner

I’m very hesitant to get into this RummyChick as I’m not an LSU fan. This might be better served on its own thread, but since you asked me personally, ya there’s been some smoke to Coach O and his recruiting in the past as well as the present.
Believe coach O was director of recruiting at USC in the Reggie Bush years, and that didn’t turn out well in the end. There’s a national story about an LSU bag man that was recently sentenced, he was literally stealing money from a charity and funneling it to players.
As Herbie said, “Ed hired the best players possible”. Pretty sure he meant coaches but also could have been a Freudian slip.
Told my son the same. I don’t even know what draws a call anymore.

He actually did quite well given what he had to work with, a team and a staff recruited by his incompetent predecessor. His upset of Stanford brought the fans charging onto the field in celebration.

And for those in this thread that think USC messed up not hiring coach O after firing Pete Carroll... the NCAA was about to absolutely drop the hammer on USC. Because of Pete and because of coach O, among others. USC still got hammered. Pat Haden was trying his best to limit the damage caused by those guys paying players. And barely attempting to even hide it. Haden came in to clean up a scandal ridden program. No way could coach O have been promoted in that scenario. He was a direct part of it... “allegedly”.
Edit, Carroll wasn’t fired, he quit before it all really hit the fan at USC.
LOL, don’t know if you noticed but every sports announcer talks about every player or team in historic terms. That’s why you get statistics after every play telling us that.... “NO team has accomplished anything comparable to what we are witnessing since 1953!”
Hype. That’s their job, that’s what they do.
LOL. No. The stats speaks for themselves. LSU laying those points and yardage on a 14-0 team that had won the NC two of the last 3 years is not hype. It’s the historical record. Clemson will be #1 preseason next year with the likely #1 NFL pick QB, too. Clemson would have won the championship most any other year.

Clemson had won 29 in a row before LSU destroyed them in 3 quarters. Probably will win every game next year, too. I’m not even an LSU fan. Just calling it like I see it. Burrow had 268 yards passing in one quarter. When did happen “last year?” I assume you are a Clemson partisan. No need to degrade LSU’s historic run.
Not a Clemson fan or partisan though I was pulling for them as an ACC team. But last year, Clemson did to Alabama what LSU did to them this year. Alabama was the favorite, winning 2 of the last 3 and Clemson won by 30. Clemson was a much better team last year (losing a number of key starters to the NFL) and this year, were fortunate to not lose to UNC when the Heels failed a two point conversion at the end of the game.
I actually liked both teams, QBs and coaches last night. It’s the bandwagon hyping by the commentators I have an issue with. It’s sales and marketing. Everybody wants to say they were there when their team scaled the mountain and became the greatest in history. Every quarterback is going to be the greatest prospect we have seen in years. Vince Young, Robert Griffin, Baker Mayfield... Hey, if that’s what keeps you warm at night, enjoy.
Burrow is great. And tough. He showed more, when he took that lick before halftime and came back, than any statistic some hack sports announcer is handed by his researchers.
Hype. Sell it!
No kidding on the holding. If you look at the replay of the ‘Hands to the Face” call against LSU, you’ll see the offensive lineman with both hands holding the rolled up jersey of the LSU lineman. No one even questioned it.
Let me rephrase.
He was perceived by the donors and fans to not have done well. His publicly reported drinking problems didn’t help.
