An elementary student brought a gun to Santo Domingo School but no threats were made, pueblo officials said.
Tribal Officials/BIA/ and the Governor were on site to conduct an investigation, according to the school's principal.
The other students were removed to the gym while the investigation took place. All students and staff are safe.
Classes continued on Monday.
“Elementary School Student Brought Gun to School”
Seems reasonable to me.
Back in the day we left guns in our unlocked vehicles with the windows rolled down. No one got excited.
Can’t do that today. Too many crazies to worry about.
I brought guns to elementary school for “Show & Tell.” But, that was in the 1950’s.

Even in the 70’s I carried my rifle through the halls because the range was in the basement. We sold ammo to raise money for the team.
This was in the Maryland suburbs too.
Back in the day there were a lot of pick ups with shotguns and .22s in the parking lot at Highland High in Abq. A LOT.
Me too! 1960’s. Well, my mom brought them in for me - I’m guessing it was second grade or so.
How do ya grip that thing?
Big deal. We took guns to school so we could hunt on the way home. That was about 60 yrs ago.
I remember a kid bringing a pistol to school for Show and Tell back in 1956. It was a black powder military pistol from around 1830.
Everyone thought it was real neat!
Today panic would ensue with school on lockdown and panic calls to police and parents, with the kid being expelled from school.
What you said is exactly my point. It should not at all be of any concern when a responsible child or a responsible adult brings a firearm to school.
It wasn’t a problem until the damnable leftists took over the schools.
“I brought guns to elementary school for Show & Tell. But, that was in the 1950s.”
I’m sorry, 50s or not, but what idiot allowed a minor kid to take a real working gun to school on their own for “show and tell”?
Unless you left off the part where your dad brought it and you talked about it, and he then left with it.

Before the murder of Bobby Kennedy by a Palestinian immigrant which caused the US to go into a media driven anti-gun hysteria fit.
My weapon of choice is a Mk7 16"/50 caliber.
Concealed Carry can be a problem.

One of my fourth graders brought a rather large knife to school several years ago. She had a plan for it, too. They were going to corner a girl they didnt like. Thankfully, she showed someone on the bus, he told, and the principal came in my room, went through her belongings and confiscated it.
Children brought guns to school for 100 straight years without a problem.
The problem is that teachers are violent losers.
What you say is true. It is hard to over-emphasize the role of firearms in daily life back then, particularly if you lived out of town, and used firearms to keep your livestock safe and alive, and for that matter to help insure the family stayed safe too.
For one thing I was on a shooting team and we had to bring our B-B guns into the school, keep them locked in our lockers during the day, then take them with us to our shooting tournaments somewhere down the road.
We learned firearm safety as well as shooting straight, and we considered it an honor to shoot well in the company of all the war vets who were in small towns and rural areas back then.
Some sad-sack downthread called our fathers "idiots" for integregrating firearms and firearms skills early on in our simple country lives.
The way I see it learning to shoot and handle guns beats the hell out of playing hopscotch with the girls on the sidewalk out front lol.

This photo, easily found online, was captioned "gun safety with real guns was taught in the school in the 50's."
