SANTA CLARA
The 49ers handled business in their first playoff game Saturday at Levis Stadium, thumping the No. 6 seed Minnesota Vikings 27-10 in their NFC playoff game.
Here are our grades.
Passing offense: D
Jimmy Garoppolo got going early, completing 5 of 6 passes on his first series that ended in a 3-yard Kendrick Bourne touchdown in the back of the end zone. Garoppolo made a bad decision near the end of the first half when he threw an interception to linebacker Eric Kendricks while looking for Deebo Samuel on a post route. Garoppolo was asked to throw just 19 times, his fewest of the season, while the running game was San Franciscos bread and butter. Garoppolo finished 11 of 19 for 131 yards with a touchdown and interception, and a passer rating of 74.7.

It's not often an NFL Playoff team gets handled on both sides of the ball the way the Vikes were today.
A dominant beating not reflected in the score.
SF is a running team with a defense.
Who's next?
the real super bowl will be between sf and seattle..that will be a slugfest
Once SF discovered they could run for 1st down at will, they quit throwing the ball.
Goroppolo threw 17 times. Team ran 47. A recipe for winning.
They kind of had to, because Garoppolo wasn't playing that great. His receivers helped him a lot.
19. But he only completed 11.
I am a 49ers fan, but I’m not sure they can beat Seattle in a third game. And Garoppolo passes worse at home.
Nick Bosa gets better every game. He was nearly unstoppable today.
Vikings OC made a strategic error. The 49ers have a week rushing defense. They only ran 10 times. Yes, they didn’t do well on those ten, but they would have done better sticking with it.
Pretty cool moment on the CBS pre-game show when Cowher was told he was just elected to the NFL Hall of Fame.
Actually he completed 12, one to the other team.
If it weren't for an interception and a fumble on a punt return, it might have been a lot different?
True. The other team actually dropped a couple too.
As a Seahawk fan I'm counting on you to be right.
Vikes had a total of 21 yds running.
From NFL.COM:
“3. Minnesota came in believing it could exploit the 49ers’ one defensive weakness: the run. That plan got flattened. With San Francisco controlling the line of scrimmage throwing aside blockers like ragdolls, Cook was stuffed repeatedly with no room to run. He rushed the ball just nine times for 18 yards, a 2.0 average with a long of six yards. The dynamic running back compiled just 26 scrimmage yards. When a team’s best weapon is shut down so thoroughly, blowouts ensue. A Vikings team desiring to be a ground-first offense generated just 21 yards on 10 runs.”
“Throwing aside blockers like ragdolls” lol
Yeah, it was like that. While the Niners ran for first down at will. 185yds on the ground. 12 rushing first downs.
Total mis-match.
Seattle has to get past Green Bay, to get a shot at Frisco.
“Did anyone see this slugfest? “
No, not even aware it was going on.
Tennessee whooping up on Baltimore!
That Derrick Henry is pretty good.
Ravens fumble on their own 20, Titans recover.
Currently 21-6 and fixin’ to be more.
28-6 Titans over Ravens
LOL
