Written and directed by Albert Brooks. A successful Los Angeles advertising executive (Brooks) and his wife (Julie Hagerty) decide to quit their jobs, buy a Winnebago, and follow their Easy Rider fantasies of freedom and the open road. Then things take a turn in Las Vegas...
"Twenty Two!!" - scene from Albert Brooks' "Lost In America" (1985)

Brings back bad memories of some the fashions and hair styles from the 80s.
Great Movie....
“I understood the nest egg”
“Oh, please. Do me a favor. Don’t use the word. You may not use that word. It’s off limits to you! Only those in this house who understand nest egg may use it! And don’t use any part of it, either. Don’t use ‘nest.’ Don’t use ‘egg.’ You’re out in the forest you can point: ‘The bird lives in a round stick.’ And, and, and you have things over easy with toast!”
didn’t mind the faSHions so much but yeah- the tight curl perms were horrid-
Best movie - Millennials must read monthly
Hilarious movie. Thanks for the reminder.
“Twenty-two” is the libs’ equivalent of “getting” President Trump.
Sort of funny back them people paid big money for perms now people pay for hair straightening.
Great Movie.
I love that movie.
“We have to touch Indians, see the mountains and the prairies and the rest of that song.”
Somehow, I totally missed that movie...
Funny movie
Three decades of silly fashion styles, culminating in music groups donning spandex.
The ‘nest egg’ speech is one of my favorites! A memorable movie, for sure. The bird lives in a round stick. LOL!
Always liked Albert Brooks. :)
Oh... the “nest egg” movie. Too funny.
Funny movie. I like the scene where he goes to a manpower agency in Arizona that features minimum wage jobs after losing their money in the casino, explains his executive experience and asks whether they have a high paying executive job suitable for his experience in his index card file on the desk. “You mean like is this the $100,000 a year box?”,the kid asks sarcastically
Brooks’ father (Harry Einstein aka “Parkyakarkus”) was one of the funniest comedians who ever lived. He died way too young, moments after bringing down the house at a Friar’s Club roast of Desi Arnaz. His Greek dialect character (Parkyakarkus or Parky) was perhaps THE funniest comedic character heard on radio in the 1930s and 1940s, as well as in the movies of that period.
His repartee with Al Jolson on Jolson’s “Lifebuyo” and “Colgate” radio shows of the late 1930s/early 1940s are absolutely priceless. He is my favorite comedian.
P.S. Albert Brooks changed his last name when starting hsi career because, well, there was already oen “Albert Einstein” that people were familiar with!!!
I’m sure you also know that Bob Einstein, Albert’s brother, was also a funny guy and had a great run portraying Super Dave Osborne in the 1980s on the late night shows and elsewhere. Funny, off-the-wall stuff.
Defending Your Life is another of my favorites.
You mean this isn’t the “Twenty-Two” with the line,
“Room for one more, honey!”
