They just dont care
I coach HS varsity lacrosse. The kids I coach now compared to 5 years ago are like a different species.
75% of them dont care if they win or lose, even the stars. They are going through the motions.
It used to be 50-75% of our teams were made up of boys that would run through a brick wall to win, but didnt have much talent. Them, combined with the true stars, made for formidable teams.
Ive been coaching 20 years and it only changed in the last 5ish. Its a little disheartening.
This is a by-product of the progressive government curricula in our schools which for the last several years has been drumming into childrens heads that winning, being superior, or standing out from the crowd was not a good thing, even in a group, because you made others feel bad when you did better than they did. "Its not fair to them for you to be better than them, especially if you do it consistently. Remember, everyone is equal, so dont try to show they arent!"
This is the mantra of the left.
And after 15 minutes or less, they are bored and no longer want to play. If we ever get hit with (just) an EMP there will be some positive changes.
A few months ago I was shocked to see a group of eight local male teenagers playing touch football on a quiet residential street. I felt like given them medals -- they were normal! These days, teenagers just stare at their phones.
