Will LSU's home-field advantage play factor in CFP title game? 'It's going to be wild'
Yahoo ^ | January 7, 2020 | Pete Thamel

With a hint of nostalgia in his voice, former LSU coach Les Miles harkened back to January of 2008. LSU won the national title in New Orleans with an authoritative victory 38-24 victory over Ohio State in the Bowl Championship Series title game at a raucous Superdome. With No. 1 LSU essential hosting No. 3 Clemson in this year’s College Football Playoff title game at the Superdome, Miles recalls throngs of fans everywhere from the team hotel to awaiting the buses at practices. “There’s crowds everywhere,” Miles said of New Orleans. “It’s a great place to play. It’s a great place to eat. It’s going to be fun for both teams. A little more fun for LSU, now.”

I wonder if NOLA tourism businesses are disappointed LSU is one of the teams. I would imagine a lot of Bayou Bengal fans will just go into the city, see the game, then leave. The city should not worry about running out of alcohol as Mardi Gras season has started.

That was usually the case for LSU fans in the past. They would come in for the game and leave. Wouldn’t stay in the hotels or party on Bourbon St.

Just got back from NOLA. Really do love that town. The history, the food, the people. It maybe a bit too libertine for some here but a great town none the less. As a Gator alum, I actually like and respect LSU fans. Mostly a class bunch when I have gone to away games there. There is a still a Southern gentility in Louisiana that is lost in other states where carpetbaggers have moved in ...like North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Texas.

I doubt Clemson stands much of a chance against LSU, but as far as playing in New Orleans, it wasn’t much help in the 2012 BCS Nat’l Championship game.

Some fans live close enough to drive
to NOLA.
The hotels are full; hotels in Baton
Rouge-Biloxi are full. The city is ready.
Bars, restaurants, etc love when LSU
plays a bowl game in NOLA. They travel
well & spend lots of money!
Add the championship game hype & it
seems all of Louisiana will be there.

And LSU won 2 national titles in the
Superdome:
2003 beat Oklahoma
2007 beat Ohio St

You neglected to mention that.

I see ESPN is going to televise the game.

If they do a split screen like they did with the Rose Bowl I probably... no, I won’t watch it.

How is it FL avoids your broad brush on the prevalence of carpetbaggers and resulting loss of gentility?

So Yahoo is asking if Death Valley is going to be a factor in the championship game?

I don’t even know why yahoo exists.

These are some seriously stupid people.

I doubt the Vikings stand much of a chance against the Saints, but as far as playing in New Orleans, it wasn’t much help in the NFL Wild Card round.

Because everything North of Orlando is Southern in "flavor" but below Orlando on the East Coast it's New Jersey\New York with palm trees and on the West Coast it's Pittsburgh\Chicago\Cleveland in flavor. I am generalizing but Florida as a "Southern State" overall changed early in the 20th century to more an amalgam of different regions.

ESPN has several different broadcasts across their channels. There is the traditional full screen broadcast. You happen to get another broadcast with the split screen. Just flip channels until you find the right one for you.

We just stayed off Dauphine in the Quarter, a block off Bourbon St. and we heard no sound what so ever from all the craziness. Yes staying on Bourbon St. unless you are 24 and looking to binge drink is nuts.

True story...last year GF and I went to New Orleans during Summer. I had a work thing in Kenner and she stayed at the hotel. Ok it was Nawty in New Orleans week. For the initiated that was the week SWINGERS descend on New Orleans and it's like ancient Rome. My GF is a very attractive 50 year old with a size 6 figure and gorgeous face(I think). She was barraged by women and men that week all around town and in the hotel. I saw more fake breasts that weekend than a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon. Like I said, a town not for everyone. And no we are not into swapping but had a giggle about it.

The only time I felt I was in a Southern state in FL was in the panhandle.
