I read somewhere that a SS Python was going for $6000. What was the price new? IIRC, they were $500ish in the mid 80s.

You’d pat twice that for an average 4” blued original. No, he wouldn't. He might pay twice that for a pristine Python with original box and papers, but $3K would still be a hefty price.
