Cars Are One Thing—Toyota’s Building an Entire City
Auto Week ^ | 7 Jan 2020 | MARK VAUGHN

While introducing a concept car is nice, Toyota chose this year’s Consumer Electronics Show to announce it is building an entire city, the roads packed with last year’s autonomous concept cars. Top that, competitors.

The “living laboratory” will be built on 175 acres that used to crank out the Toyota Yaris. Efficiencies in production meant the plant was no longer necessary, freeing up all that land.

Of course, the next question is, where do they get the energy to separate the hydrogen for the fuel cells.

Isn’t this similar to the original idea behind the Epcot Center? At one time Epcot Center was supposed to be the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow. It was going to be a planned city where residents would use experimental new technology before the rest of the world .

USA used to have company towns like this. Plenty of court cases where it was established they’re treated just like any town and therefore can’t infringe your rights even though it’s all private property.
