After the enormous box office AND critical success of Joker and Dark Knight, expect all the comic book movies to “turn real”.
No more PG-13 comics.
Gritty. Bloody. High drama. Realistic.
Who is ready for Gal Gadot chopping off heads with a sword?
That studios do not realize is that it was great directors combined with a great script and world-class acting that make their two gritty successes.
So they’ll just put out violent trash instead.
You're probably right. Batman stories started being a little darker around the 70's (he is a Dark Knight, after all). But they are getting carried away now. I don't even like the idea that Batman now wears body armor. I think he should wear the black and gray costume he always wore. Batman does not need body armor because he moves so fast he can't be shot. It may not be realistic, but, hey, it's a comic book character.
I think my favorite iteration of the character (aside from the comics) is Batman: The Animated Series from the early 90's.
