I remember being at some event where nametags were provided. The woman checking in near me proudly stated she needed no nametag, since “everyone knew her.” I had no idea who she was, and when I asked a few other attendees, neither did they. It became a private joke as the day went on, and at the end of the day, we still didn’t know who she was.

Reminds me of an old airline joke.

Angry man at the service desk, pounding on the counter: "Do you know who I am??"

Airline rep, over the intercom: "Security to gate 23. We have a gentleman here who doesn't know who he is."
