Appearing on CNN with Anderson Cooper, singer Linda Ronstadt compared President Trump to Hitler and says she sees “great parallels” between the United States now and the Weimar Republic in Germany.
Anderson Cooper:
I’ve read that you have read a lot about the Weimar Republic in Germany, and you sort of see parallels between then and now.
Linda Ronstadt:
Great parallels. I mean the intelligentsia of Berlin and literati and all artists were just doing their thing, and as Hitler rose to power, there were a lot of chances to stop him, and they didn’t speak out. The industrial complex thought they could control him once they got him in office, and of course, he was not controllable.
By the time he got established, he put his own people in place and stacked the courts and did what he had to do to consolidate his power, and we got Hitler. He destroyed Germany, destroyed centuries of intellectual history, forward and backward. People like Beethoven, Goethe, and Thomas Mann became jokes. They became Nazi laughing stocks.

I think a lot of people would be surprised to hear comparisons between what happened then and now.

If you read the history, you won’t be surprised. It is exactly the same. You find a common enemy for everybody to hate. I was sure that Trump was going to get elected the day he announced. I said he’s going to—it is going to be like Hitler and the Mexicans are the new Jews. And sure enough, that is what he delivered.
Parkinsons can do that to you. Very difficult to watch. Difficult to take her seriously at this point. May God have mercy on her soul.
I don't know if the government provides usable statistics concerning Mexicans murdered in the US, but probably most are killed by other Hispanics, the rest by common criminals, either black or white. The number of Mexicans killed by non-Hispanic whites in the US may be lower than the number of non-Hispanic whites killed by Mexicans (either criminals or drunk drivers)...but the statistics are probably buried where no one can find them.
In contrast, the number of Jews murdered by other Jews in the 12 years of the Third Reich was probably zero.
In other words, the two situations have nothing in common.
And she knows what she’s talking about, too, because she recorded a few songs a long time ago, and has lots of money./s

If there is any justice in the afterlife, all these celebutards who reduce the Holocaust to a joke and a political talking point to attack and viciously slander President Trump would get to experience what it was like for real Jews under the real Hitler in a real Concentration/Death Camp.

That lament made me laugh out loud, honestly.
But it could mean trouble on a couple fronts (and rears).
One is that you probably have to see your mother-in-law with some frequency, which is going to be even more unpleasant with Linda living in your head.
The other problem is---and I have studied on this for forty years, always to my benefit---as a woman ages she comes to look more and more like her mother, every year, every day.
Like her mother...and like Linda lol.
