Fire is actually a major part of Australia’s ecosystem, just as it was for our Great Plains, which otherwise would have been called the Great Scrubby Woods. Florida likewise is an ecosystem that evolved with fire; what is abnormal is fire suppression that causes fires to be more ferocious than average.

They even have birds of prey there in Australia that have learned to spread fire by carrying branches with live embers to new areas to enhance their hunting success.
