Russia’s population could drop by more than 12 million by 2035, the national statistics office said in its annual forecast published Friday.
Russia’s overall population dropped for the first time in a decade last year, totaling 146.8 million as migration inflows hit record lows. It totaled 146.7 million so far in 2019, the State Statistics Service Rosstat said this month, as Russia experienced its highest natural population decline in 11 years.
Here are the three population scenarios that Rosstat predicted for the next 15 years. In all cases, Russia’s natural population is expected to continue to decline — meaning deaths will continue to outnumber live births.
Optimistic scenario: 150.1 million. Natural population is expected to slow its contraction from nearly 250,000 next year to 21,300 in 2035. Migration is expected to grow from under 340,000 next year to more than 385,000 in 2035.
Baseline scenario: 142.9 million. Natural population is expected to decline by more than 350,000 next year and almost 400,000 in 2035. Migration is expected to drop slightly from almost 265,000 next year to around 264,000 in 2035.
Worst-case scenario: 134.2 million. Natural population is expected to contract by 484,400 next year and near 1 million people by 2035. Migration is expected to drop from almost 191,000 to under 16,000 arrivals in 2035.
All the figures were revised downward from 2018, when Rosstat forecast Russia’s population to grow to 153.2 million under an optimistic scenario, 144 million under a baseline scenario and 138.1 million under the worst-case scenario.
Rosstat will not publish its forecast next year because of the 2020 census, the state-run TASS news agency reports.

That’s a tired myth. Not true anymore. Alcohol consumption is half that of the Soviet era and it is clearly visible.

East European dating is a very difficult matter and it tends to produce a lot of false impressions.
First of all unlike that of the West there is a shortage of men and surplus of women within populations in the East and there are also cultural stigmas related to the marriage with women belonging to certain groups, mostly latent feminists who are making the most “mail order bribes”. There is a reason why they aren’t married at home and it is more complex than “useless alcoholic men”.
There are definitions like: “deer”, “dudess pit”, “tractor-trailer” and so on related to it.

Believe what you want. Yes the alcohol situation in Russia has gotten better in recent years but they still like their vodka. I believe my nephew when he said at the 10:00 break the men were drinking vodka in the break room along with the bosses.

Their only aircraft carrier just burned up and their stealth fighter on a test flight literally crashed and burned.
I’m am 100% more worried about China as a threat.
All of which has nothing to do with the fact that they have some of the best anti aircraft missiles in the business or that they just deployed a Mach 27 intercontinental hypersonic missile, even as the US is still at least 2 years away from deploying a hypersonic missile.

I personally don’t think Russia is a threat. China on the other hand has public plans under their 25 year plan that should frighten every country in the world.
Sorry bud the info I have on Russia and it’s alcohol and drug problems tell a different story as this article points out, it’s a country in a bad condition. Go to You Tube, if you don’t have a bias against that is and see for yourself.

Don't forget that North Koreans are basically the same people as South Koreans with their mighty, world beating firms like Samsung and LG. It's usually not a good idea to draw sweeping generalizations about any people like your nephew did.

You’re right; our white population is facing the same decline. Schoolyards today are packed with foreign children; not a good sign for anyone interested in the historical traditions/legal setup of this country.

We speak softly and don’t tout it. Russia touts their hypersonic missile due to short man syndrome. That’s all they have. What good equipment they have they only have small amounts of.
From what I have read the Russian military equipment as a whole is basically rusted out junk and Russia could only defeat us if it went nuclear.

I have a sister-in-law who lives out side of San Fran. Says the downtown area is ‘’disgusting’’ Sad thing is though she’s a Democrat. And I’ve seen those You Tube videos. Hard to believe. The LA didn’t look like that when was brother was there. But then that was some forty years ago.
But then try to find any inhabitable place in Russia in the condition of Gary, Indiana or like some places in Michigan with people living in such conditions and with such a drug and alcohol problems. Russia maybe has three crappy major cities but even in that cities downtowns are much better that that of SF, and hoods are in better shape and much safer too. You might argue that US has bad and good places but then the same applies to elsewhere.

That’s a difference in doctrines. They are primarily developing nuclear deterrent and it makes no sense to be silent about it because it is called deterrent for a reason.
They understand full well that conventional forces won’t win a major war against a sophisticated opponent anymore regardless the funds you spend on it. They also understand that no such war would be conventional. Bright minds in US understood it too at the time but judging by that comment of yours it is a possibility that the sane times are gone.
