The Koran will welcome you with open arms.
lol
The subject of homicides of pregnant and recently pregnant women seems to be complicated. It is necessary to distinguish pregnancy-caused deaths such as those from eclampsia, from pregnancy-associated deaths such as those from homicides and car accidents. Then one must consider that homicide is a major cause of death in all women of childbearing age, particularly black women, whether or not they have been pregnant. The total number of deaths of women in that age group is low, so a small change in numbers can make a large percentage difference.
From the article linked below: "The pregnancy-associated homicide ratio was 1.7 per 100,000 live births." That is calculated before adjusting for the typical homicide rate for all women of childbearing age. Two studies cited in the linked article found a homicide increase of only about 10% for women who had been pregnant over those of the same age who had not. So the background homicide rate accounted for the vast majority of the "1.7 per 100,000" number.
This puts the dubious quote "20 percent of women who die during pregnancy are victims of murder" in a very different perspective. There is no war on pregnant women.
You may find this helpful, or more likely, not:
I suppose I should retract the “dubious” from “dubious quote” in my post above. I still think the quote is misleading, but it might be accurate.
thank you. I figured it was a statistical claim that was true but not significant.
