Personally, I'd never go back - 13 months on the DMZ was more than enough.
Ten years ago my son traveled extensively throughout Asia. He said VN was the prettiest country, had the best food and the nicest people.

I’ve had to travel regularly through VN for the last 10 years.

The South is extremely friendly and warm to Americans. When I first started going to VN, I’d regularly have older men come up to me and talk about their experiences in the SVN Army or working with Americans on bases. Most had relatives in the USA also. I only got small bits of stories of how they suffered after 1975.

Saigon traffic, noise and pollution is off the charts. The weather in places like Daklak and Dalat is fantastic, the towns are smaller and the pace of life is very pleasant.

Interesting...we had some friends who vacationed there earlier this year and said they’d never go back.
