I’ve had to travel regularly through VN for the last 10 years.

The South is extremely friendly and warm to Americans. When I first started going to VN, I’d regularly have older men come up to me and talk about their experiences in the SVN Army or working with Americans on bases. Most had relatives in the USA also. I only got small bits of stories of how they suffered after 1975.

Saigon traffic, noise and pollution is off the charts. The weather in places like Daklak and Dalat is fantastic, the towns are smaller and the pace of life is very pleasant.

They still fear the re-education camps which probably still exist.
They make them work in Nike shoe factories while listening to Colin Kaepernick tell them how bad America is.

Saigon...

I have read over the years the city being renamed Ho Chi Minh and that a person there had better remember/know that.

That for a native, saying Saigon would get that person sent back to the camps.

Thanks for your comments.

I’m spending next month traveling Vietnam and Cambodia from North to South, visiting every major city. This is my first trip there.
