I always remember when Costner approached the great filmmaker John Huston for a role, Huston replied that if he was looking to cast a guy dying from AIDS, he’d cast Costner. Maybe Huston was on to something...

Ron Howard plays the same game too and does the small town, all-american boy routine, telling the public "aww gee whiz, I've NEVER been a partisan politics kinda guy, I consider myself to be a common sense Independent who picks the best person and who votes for candidates in both parties... by sheer coincidence, EVERY politician I publicly endorse or stump for is a deranged leftist DemocRAT though!
