Apart from shameless pandering to the left, Biden's remarks illustrate once more Nathan's maxim:

Failed socialism is invariably replaced with more socialism.

If the minimum wage in California and New York is to be $15 an hour, fast food joints are simply going to substitute robots for youngsters entering the workforce for the first time. By forcing this automation, the left destroys a valuable tool of society, a path for introducing otherwise feckless youth into workplace discipline so necessary for their advancement up the economic ladder.

Expect the next step to be to prohibit that automation.

True, McDonald’s, and many fast food and national pizza chains, are franchised businesses.

I don’t know enough about labor law or labor activity to say, but, I’m thinking that “unionizing” McDonald’s would involve getting a union in literally thousands of independently owned businesses. Otherwise, can McDonald’s Corporate, require that each franchise form a union? But then, aren’t unions completely separate from the businesses where those employees work?

Sorry I don’t know all the ins and outs, but, Joe may be blowing smoke here.
