It’s called Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), often referred to as Narcissistic Personality Disorder in the case of males. (Yeah ... the terminology is sexist.)
This is characterized by the immature psychological defense mechanism known as “Splitting”, which means always seeing people as all-good or all-evil ... either over-idealized or demonized ... and having a tendency to flip instantaneously between these extremes.
The psychiatric textbooks list Glenn Close’s portrayal in Fatal Attraction as spot-on for BPD, the way she first over-idealized Michael Douglas and his life, and then tried to kill them.
