In the 1970's, I read an SF novel,
"Bug Jack Barron" by Norman Spinrad. A talk show host discovers that an immortality treatment has been discovered, and wealthy people are getting it. But the treatment requires the glands of kidnapped children, who are killed in the process.

Many years ago I met and fell in love with a young lady whose last name was Spinrad. Fortunately she had more sense than I did, and recognized that we weren't a good match. Anyway, I asked her if she were related to Norman Spinrad. Her reply was that she hoped to become famous enough that people would ask him if he were related to her.
