A nuclear attack would most likely target one of these 6 US cities — but experts say none of them are prepared

A nuclear attack on US soil would most likely target one of six cities: New York, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Washington, DC.

But public-health experts say any of those cities would struggle to provide emergency services to the wounded.

The cities also no longer have designated fallout shelters to protect people from radiation.

Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

The chance that a nuclear bomb would strike a US city is slim, but nuclear experts say it's not out of the question.

A nuclear attack in a large metropolitan area is one of the 15 disaster scenarios for which the US Federal Emergency Management Agency has an emergency strategy. The agency's plan involves deploying first responders, providing immediate shelter for evacuees, and decontaminating victims who have been exposed to radiation.

I know who you love and honor, and who you are. We are both “brothers and soldiers”.

Any point and effort you make to reflect the only true source of light and truth, and any effort you make, desperately trying to warn society of their need of their (our) only salvation, for this lost and soon to be obliterated world, is a breath of fresh air, and an encouragement!

And that is how I read you.

I see you recognize your audience, and necessarily approach from different tactical positions.

Oh come on man, the Russians were just “liberating” our KC-135R from capitalism caused icing.

Onto another subject —

If it happens again, that “left wing stupid” globalist, anti-American, anti-God minions get scared of being nuked, all they would need to sleep better at night is for a messia figure (like their obamanation), to communicate through their mass left wing media apparatus, they will be handing out SPF 100 with obama-phones in all big city leftist bastions.

Their vote will be secure until they get nuked.

Just to make you feel even better, Russia has likely moved 1500 + of their most upgraded T-72’s to upgraded T-90MS tanks into Syria. They are selling some of these and many other weapon systems, in exchange for energy flow influence over the EU, just like in the 50’s to the 80’s. Some analysts believe this number will balloon to more than double that in the next 2-3 years.

Basically, the USSR and Warsaw Pact, peaked out at over 57,000 tanks during the Cold War. From the 80’s to the present, most have been sitting covered across central Siberia in mothballs. MATO is so lost they don’t have a clue, or want to know, but Moscow has and will be spending up to $58 Billion on completely rebuilding many of these tanks. They have been stripping them down completely, recoating them, retracking them, putting in Michigan lore powerful long range engines, new guns, new reactive armor, hydrolics, and automating firing systems, etc...

As well, the Obama supported Arab Spring and support for the Muslim Brotherhood, had it’s likely goal, driving much of the ME back into the Russian sphere for all kinds of support and agreements.

With one significant acception, with their recent agreements over the past 7-9 years, Moscow has established or reestablished new bases from Sudan, Ertria ((*from Ertria Moscow is supporting Iranian backed Huthi campaigns across the Red Sea in Yemen against Saudi Arabia - AND It was actually Russian controlled highly upgraded SAM’s which have brought down three U.S.ISR platforms north of our base in DJ/HOA west of Yemen)), Ethiopia, Egypt, Libya, Tripoli (Moscow has backchannel threatened to carry out a Syrian/Guatemalan style mass refugee crises in Southern Europe, if the EU tries to intervene with Ukraine), western Cyprus, Syria, and joint Russian Iranian OPS in parts of Iraq and Iran. Moscow now dominates the Eastern Mediterranean.

Until Trump, EUCOM and CENTCOM commanders voiced that we were dangerously outgunned in the Eastern Med and ME. Scales have tipped a bit since Trump took office, but the race has accelerated “biggly’.

That actually made me laugh a bit. I know I shouldn’t have, but the the mental picture of all those dudes with backsides up surrounding the cube...

The cube would be one of my first targets in the ME if we take another hit... Along with Madina, Damascus, Tehran, etc...

I’m waiting for Libya to rear its head in some form, in anticipation of the build towards Ezekiel 38.

Remember, Business Insider is now a partner with Yahoo.

Bob Saccamano partnering with Brody doesn't make him Bloomindale's.

Don't say those are mostly-liberal cities. Because...

Because they are.

Not much, I’d think. Especially if you’re within a few miles under the detonation.

Some years back, I was in Switzerland on business. The factory I was in, set in an out of the way valley, didn't have a fallout shelter in the basement.

It had a fully-stocked BLAST and fallout shelter. People on it would survive a Hiroshima-sized bomb 500 m from ground zero.

If a city had something like this on every block, The death toll would be far lower, without them everyone within, say 10 miles of ground zero would die, with them, the people living further than two miles from ground zero could survive.

That's roughly a 300 square mile area where preparation would save lives.

Heck I think a nuclear attack on this state might actually get rid of the poop on the sidewalk

I think knowing there's an inbound missile would vastly add to it...

With the size and power of modern nuclear bombs, running into some basement fallout shelter isn’t going to do you a damned bit of good.

Only if you are close to it. Suppose you aren't close enough to get quick fried?

Do you plan to break out the lawn chairs and get a tan, or do you get as much shielding between you and the radioactive fall out as possible?

You get a 15 minute warning that a dozen 100kt nukes are about to blanket the area. WTF difference would it make?

In that case, not much you can do.

But a prudent person would so arrange their affairs that they didn't live on a target.

Are you prudent or not?

(s) nully, who lives 'near' where we set off 974 nuclear bombs...

The article gives no reasons why they pick these 6 cities. Obviously, the selected targets would depend on who is attacking, their capabilities and goals. Pretty much worthless babbling by someone who had nothing much to say...

The reason they selected those cities is to stampede the liberal sheep living there into voting for surrender.

Better a subjugated and hostilely occupied existence than dead...

...even if you are a sheep for shearing or a pig for slaughter.

I was born in 1957 and lived my whole life under the nuclear damocles sword until the collapse of the Soviet Union post 1989. Thank you Ronald Reagan. Since then there is a nuclear threat still but it is much diminished.

I'm only a few years ahead of you.

Duck and cover drills had a special sense of urgency during the Cuban Missile crisis on a Marine Corps air base in the south east.

God bless Ronald Reagan!

Mare Island is out, LA is gone too, nothing in Hawaii. Only Brimmerton 8s left and it has an inland passage.

What about Newport News?
