It was supposed to be a county budget meeting in Chattooga County, Ga., last Friday but before it could even begin, the county commissioners wife stormed in and dumped a soda on a reporters head.
The shocking moment, captured partially on video, stunned the room into silence. Chattooga County Sole Commissioner Jason Winterss jaw dropped. He uttered, Oh, my God. Another voice said: There you go. Im sick of it and Winters appeared to nod his head in agreement at his wifes actions.
Meanwhile, the reporter sat at the table drenched, saying nothing.
Oh, thats classy! a taxpayer attending the meeting yelled at Winterss wife, Abbey Winters, (snip)
Abbey Winters has since been charged with simple battery and disorderly conduct in the bizarre soda attack on AllOnGeorgia reporter Casie Bryant, which witnesses told police appeared to be completely unprovoked. People and reporters attending the meeting said they could hear Abbey Winters say You deserve that just after dumping the drink on Bryants head, according to the police report and the Summerville News, which was at the meeting. The 39-year-old reporter did not say anything in response but calmly got up and left the room as the soda dripped down her face and onto her coat, witnesses said.
(snip) according to the police report, Abbey Winters told Summerville, Ga., police that she had accidentally poured the drink on Bryants head after stumbling/tripping near her.
(snip)
The incident comes amid mounting concerns about hostility toward journalists starting at the highest levels of government, with President Trumps frequent cries of fake news, and trickling down to local news.

Oh, brother. The ComPost turns this into a story in which they are the victims. Will the oppression never end?
These are, as someone up-thread already pointed out, the same people who defend dousing a political opponent with a milkshake as legitimate political discourse, so take the outrage with a grain of salt. There's a major issue between the two here and I'm guessing it isn't necessarily politics. A good editor would have asked.
When I was a kid I went to the dedication of Lady Bird Johnson Grove in the Redwood National Park. Big day for the small community of Orick California. After it was all over there seemed to be universal agreement around town that “the media “ were the most arrogant, pushy, condescending and despicable people known. Yeah even us small town hicks figured you out.
If only more journalists were treated with public disdain like this, maybe, just maybe they would become reporters instead of agenda propagators.

Everything that happens is Trump’s fault.
I would opine that it was her past” reporting”, a/k/a, lies, slander, and libel.
Was it a Big Gulp and was she trying to comply with the wishes of His Majesty Bloomberg in eschewing it?
I got the impression it was from a previous action or article the reporterette wrote.
“The Journalists deserved it” gets my vote on general principles.
You’ve hit on to something. Her defense, from the democrat playbook, is that she was just making a joke and the reporter wasn’t capable of getting it.
Why can’t they settle this the traditional way like adults used to, a good old fashioned brawl, instead of dragging greedy lawyers and government beaurocrats into it.
Just trying to figure out to what extent the reporter deserved it, and I would wager that extent is extensive, from the article’s studious failure to address it.
You mean sex and violence?
Not guilty.
The hotness index rises with each impending water balloon.
My first thought...
The moral of the story is bring super soakers to a Trump rally and hand them out to the back row, where the media hang out.
Abbey Winters is full of great ideas.
Promote her to RNC head. We would vote for her.
She has guts.
Ok thank you for the explanation.
Women’s beach volleyball...?
Did Bloomberg get involved yet?
Understood. Thanks
